About Us

We offer free, confidential, independent
and impartial
advice to all our clients.
We have generalist advisers who offer
advice on a
wide range of problems including areas such as:
- Consumer general contract
- Basic money advice
- Employment
- Housing issues
- Education
- Family & relationships
- Immigration & nationality
- Welfare benefits
- Community care
We employ specialist advisers. Currently
we have:
- A consumer specialist
- A money adviser
We also employ an interpreter. Clients
whose first
language is Pahari, Urdu or Punjabi can
make an appointment
for the interpreter. Other languages
spoken include French,
Italian, Swedish and Gujerati.
An appointment to see a solicitor
in the Bureau can be made after an initial interview
with a generalist adviser. At present we
offer
interviews with solicitors specialising in Family/Relationship
problems and Employment issues.
Appointments for the specialist advisers and solicitors are made by the
generalist adviser after the initial interview.
Volunteers
The CAB works for change. It recommends improvements to
local
and national policy based on experience of clients' problems. Volunteers
play a pivotal role in helping us achieve our goals, and Citizens
Advice Bureaux would not exist without them.
At the Watford Citizens Advice Bureau, we have volunteers who work as:
Advisers, administrators, receptionists and trustee
board
members.
We are constantly searching for new recruits in all of these catogories
and in others such as:
I.T. support, campaigning, P.R., fundraising and
volunteer recruitment.
For more information on volunteering, please refer to the 'Join Us' section of this website.
Specialists
Specialists are employees who have experience in their
various areas.
At Watford CAB we have a Money
Adviser. His work includes a full exploration of the
client's situation, sending holding letters and later, offer letters to
creditors; assistance with legal proceeedings including bankruptcy.
We also have a Consumer Specialist
who
deals with specialist consumer and contract issues. He has close links
with the local Trading Standards office.
